FAQ
Sleep Studies Process
Q: What should I do if I think I need a sleep study?
A: If you think you may need to have a sleep study performed, talk with your doctor or call the sleep center to see the sleep specialist. During your visit with the specialist, the doctor will talk with you about your sleep complaint and decide if you need a sleep study. Sleep studies are not always indicated, but if the physician believes one is warranted, he or she will order a study.
Q: What happens after a sleep study is ordered?
A: Patients who are scheduled for a sleep study will report to our center at their scheduled time. Trained staff will perform the
procedure and a report will be available for you and your doctor within a week of the procedure.
Q: How do I know if my insurance will pay for the study?
A: Most insurance companies, as well as Medicare and Medicaid, provide coverage for sleep studies. But our staff always verifies coverage of benefits before a study is done.
Q: What if I can’t fall asleep?
A: Even though a lot of patients express concern over this, a majority of the patients sleep for more than 4 hours during the test. If this is a concern, please voice this to our physician during your appointment.
Q: What if I have to go to the bathroom?
A: No problem. The sleep systems are wireless and you can move around in the facility.
Q: What if I don’t usually sleep at night because I work second or third shift? What if I habitually go to bed very late or very early?
A: We are able to accommodate any sleep pattern.
